7th Africa Animal Welfare Conference commences in Kigali

The Africa Animal Welfare Conference has Monday commenced a 3-day training in Kigali Rwanda aimed under the theme, Navigating the delicate balance of animal welfare, climate change, and development: concerted actions towards a healthy and sustainable environment.

The Africa Animal Welfare Conference is an event that focuses on promoting animal welfare in Africa. It provides a platform for experts, organizations, and individuals from across the continent to come together and discuss issues related to animal welfare, conservation, and sustainable development.

In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources Dr. Olivier Kamana reminds everyone that it’s our responsibility to ensure that animal welfare to be respected.

He urged delegates and all attendees were urged to continue actively participating in talks on animal welfare because concerted efforts can yield substantial results.

This 7th annual conference, co-hosted by the Africa Network for Animal Welfare in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the African Union Inter African Bureau for Animal Resources, and the Government of the Country in which the conference is held, is for professionals and practitioners to come together to discuss issues that cut across animal welfare, wildlife, and environmental conservation.

This year’s theme will guide the conference deliberations in looking at the various concerted efforts that have been made in Africa and globally towards achieving sufficient food for people and feed for animals, advancing in brick and mortar as well as technological development, and maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment for all of us on this earth.
